Obituary: Harkness, Kathleen Kay “Kathe”
Age 63
She was born in Spokane on April 3, 1950 to William Benjamin Candler and Ruth Marie Phillips.
She graduated from North Central High in 1968.
Kathe studied music at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
She worked at Avista and Ecova in Spokane for many years.
Kathe and her first husband Duane Shue raised two children who survive, Danna Lynn (Bryan) McKinney of Fremont, Ohio and David Allen Shue of Copperas Cove, Texas.
Kathe was a gifted singer, gardener and all around friendly spirit who was loved by all who knew her.
She was especially proud of her garden in her Spokane home.
She also had a circle of friends whose presence in her life and gift of love they bestowed upon her has truly been a blessing.
Kathe’s journey took her to many places over the course of her life, but each chapter always seemed to bring her back to Spokane.
It is nice to know you can always come home.
Kathe was preceded by her first husband, Duane Shue and her mother, Ruth.
Services will be private.
Interment will take place at Fairmount Cemetery, Spokane.
