Semitruck loses load of legumes, covers Interstate 90 in peas

The peas have split. Street sweepers removed all the peas from the roadway and traffic is running normally again.

Picky eaters rejoice. A semitruck hauling dried peas lost multiple boxes on westbound Interstate 90 just east of the Freya exit, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. The right and center lanes are blocked, covered in the lost legumes. One vehicle hit one of the boxes, but no one was injured. A street sweeper is on its way. The road will be blocked for several hours. According to Spokane’s Regional Transportation Management Center, traffic is slowed to 13 miles an hour.
