Obituary: Garner, James R. “Jim”
Age 87
He was born in Maud, Oklahoma on April 24, 1926 to Walter and Ida Garner.
After High School, he entered the Army and did a tour in World War II in both France and Germany.
After an honorable discharge, he began a 40 year career with Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad as a locomotive engineer retiring in 1988.
He married the love of his life, MaryLou in 1948 and they made their home in Spokane.
Jim loved to fix things and could at any time be found under the hood of a ‘65 Chevy or any other vehicle.
He also loved to hunt and fish.
After retirement, Jim and MaryLou loved to travel in their motorhome to Arizona to escape the snow and cold weather.
Together they enjoyed those times for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, MaryLou, daughter Gayle Fulton, son-in-law David Fulton, granddaughter Tara Fulton Forsberg, grandson Derek Fulton, and great-granddaughters Nicole and Julia Fulton.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He will be loved and missed by all.
At his request, no service will be held.
