Obituary: Cason, Benita Shreve “Bea”

Age 88

CASON, Benita Shreve “Bea” 12.07.1924 ~ 08.27.2013 Benita (Bea) Shreve Cason departed from this world on August 27, 2013, in Spokane, Washington.

Bea was born on December 7, 1924, to Nimrod Ashby and Nannie E. Moffett in Marshall, Virginia on the farm, a family homestead since before the Revolutionary War and had many fond memories of it.

After high school, she secured an office job in nearby Warrenton and later met her first husband, H. Andy Bjorklund, through his Army duty in World War II.

In 1955 the family settled in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

In 1970, Bea married Jim Cason and began prison ministries and half-way homes for them.

Bea’s life was marked by devotion to others, characterized by her service at the Spokane Union Gospel Mission as a board secretary and sewing-circle member and service to many churches she belonged to all her life.

Bea Cason is survived by her son, Andy Bjorklund, his wife Pauline, their son Zachary, Lewiston, Idaho; her son Eric Bjorklund, his wife Tina, Spokane, WA, their sons Wesley Bjorklund, Ray, Des and Tom Boston; Bea’s sister, Nancy House and husband Lee, in Marshall, Virginia and her stepson, Pastor James Cason, from Statesboro, Georgia, who will be presiding over her gravesite service at Pines Cemetery, Tuesday September 3rd at 1 pm.

We deeply mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend and thank God for the legacy of her faithful service to Him and countless others.
