In brief: Meals on Wheels to hold celebration
SPOKANE VALLEY – Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels will celebrate Grandparents Day on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place.
Local musician Jen Edgren will perform, and there will be children’s crafts and activities, as well as food catered from the Silver Café.
Tickets are $15, and children 10 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Proceeds will benefit Greater Spokane County Meals on Wheels.

Bug Splat Ride held on Saturday
SPOKANE VALLEY – The annual motorcycle Bug Splat Ride benefiting Spokane Community Oriented Policing Services is Saturday with on-site check-in beginning at 9 a.m.
Riders gather at Lone Wolf Harley Davidson, 19011 E. Cataldo Ave., and end the ride 250 miles later – via Tiger Pass and Flowery Trail – at the American Legion 111 S. Park St., in Chewelah.

‘Sherlock Holmes’ auditions for kids
SPOKANE VALLEY – Theater Arts for Children is holding auditions for “Sherlock Holmes” with audition class Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon, followed by auditions at 6:30 p.m. and also on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Come prepared with a one-minute contemporary monologue.
The show is scheduled to run on Oct. 18, 19, 20 and on Oct. 25, 26 and 27.

Final Kidical Mass bike ride of 2013
SOUTH PERRY – There’s a Kidical Mass 2.7-mile kid fun bike ride scheduled for Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.
Meet in the parking lot of Two Wheel Transit Bike Shop, 817 S. Perry St., come a little early to register.
Children riding one-, two- or three-wheeled bikes are welcome along with their friends and families – this is the last Kidical Mass ride of 2013.
