Young Lightning ready

Led by Rookie of the Year candidate Tyler Johnson, the Tampa Bay Lightning have 14 players who could make their NHL postseason debuts during their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Montreal Canadiens. Game 1 is tonight ( 4, CNBC) at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Johnson finished the 2013-14 season tied with Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche for the NHL lead in goals by a rookie at 24. Adding in 26 assists, Johnson (left in photo) finished third among rookies in scoring with 50 points. The Central Valley High grad also led the NHL in faceoffs won at 614 and tallied five short-handed goals, to tie for the league lead with Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins. Johnson was one of eight rookies to appear in at least 41 games for Tampa Bay – five more than the next closest team.
