Obituary: Apodaca, Estaban Alejandro (Alex)

Age 34

APODACA, Esteban Alejandro “Alex” (Age 34) Passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA.

He was born on February 10, 1980 in Yakima, WA., to Steve Apodaca and Idalia Mendez.

Alex grew up in Spokane Valley, WA.

He graduated from University High School in 1998.

After high school he attended Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA., where he received a Bachelor Degree in Business and Finance.

After graduation he worked in the banking industry as a loan officer specializing in small business and mortgage loans to the present time.

He married his high school sweetheart Angela Decker, and their daughter Sierra Maria Apodaca was born February 24, 2000.

Alex was capable of meeting new people and making friends easily, enhanced by a sincere, warm and contagious smile.

He had a zest for life.

Alex was devoted to his “Princess” and enjoyed her participation in basketball and softball.

He loved to spend time watching sports with family and friends.

Alex is survived by his daughter, Sierra Maria Apodaca of Spokane Valley, WA; his father, Steve Apodaca, of Spokane Valley, WA; his mother, Idalia Mendez Shuman of Topeka, KS; his brother, Matthew Mendez of Seattle, WA; his sisters, Vanessa Apodaca of Marina del Rey, CA., and Amanda Apodaca of Spokane Valley, WA; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous other relatives.

A visitation will be held at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley April 22, 2014.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm.

A memorial service will be held at St. John Vianney, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley, 99206 at 12:30 pm on April 23, 2014.

Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.
