In brief: Seniors plan May Day flower sale

South Hill – Seniors from the Southside Senior and Community Center will be selling flowers on May Day.

The seniors are selling carnations – one stem for $1, arrangements for $5 – starting at 7:30 a.m. at the following locations:

Albertsons parking lot at Grand Boulevard and 37th Avenue; Unity Church parking lot, 2900 S. Bernard St.; Manito Park parking area at Grand Boulevard and 18th Avenue; Comstock Park parking area at 29th Avenue and Howard Street; Southside Senior and Community Center, at 3151 E. 27th Ave.

Proceeds will support programs and activities at the center.

Students host Mount Spokane talk

Spokane – Gonzaga students will host a discussion about the proposed Mt. Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park expansion at 7 p.m. today at Gonzaga University.

The free event is part of a senior culminating project for six GU environmental studies students and will include a video of Mount Spokane old growth forest. Mike Peterson, president of the Spokane Lands Council, will speak.

The discussion will be at College Hall, Room 101.
