Obituary: Kitchen, Theodore Lewis

KITCHEN, Theodore Lewis Theodore Lewis Kitchen, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2014 in Clarkston, WA.

He was born in 1933 to Charles and Mabel Kitchen in Lyman, Nebraska.

He later moved to Spokane, WA where he met Sandy Link at a dance and they later married on February 6, 1954.

They shared a life centered around their family.

Ted was the number one fan of all of his children and grandchildren and was always at their many games and activities, no matter what that was.

Ted and Sandy both volunteered for the Mt.

Spokane Booster Club and enjoyed travelling together to horse shows and on sight-seeing trips.

A true cowboy, Ted loved raising and training horses, participating in horse shows, and going on trail rides.

He was especially proud of his Appaloosa Laddie.

He served for a time as President of the Palouse Empire Appaloosa Club and made lifelong friends through his horse activities.

After moving to Clarkston, Ted made many friends in the community.

Most mornings, you could find him having coffee with his friends at the Asotin Market.

He always had a story to tell and a smile on his face.

The family would especially like to thank Jim Morgan and Gerald Halsey for their friendship, hard work, and fun adventures with Ted over the past 12 years.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and his beloved wife Sandy.

He is survived by his sister Judy Rosencrantz, his children and their spouses, Suzie Kitchen, Becky (Chris) Weeks, Tracy (Doug) Phares and Paul (Helen) Wise.

He is also survived by his grandchildren and spouses, Travis (Renee) Kitchen, Aimee (Robert) Rousey, Cassie (Bryan) Murrell, Taylor Phares, and Teddi Phares.

He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, and Kathy Salerno, longtime family friend who was like a second daughter to Ted.

Although he will be deeply missed by all, we are happy to know that he is once again two-stepping with Sandy.

Services will be held on September 20th at 1pm at Mt.

Spokane Church Ministries, 6311 E. Mt.

Spokane Park Drive, Mead, WA.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his memory to Shriner’s Children Hospital in Spokane.
