Obituary: Meyer, Lucille G.

MEYER, Lucille G. (Age 93) Lucille passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

She was born in Bristol, South Dakota in the Brokaw Hotel on October 4, 1920 to Lloyd and Ann Brokaw.

She graduated from Groton High School in 1937, and then went on to graduate from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1941.

She married Anton “Tony” Meyer on her birthday in 1943.

They moved to Spokane in 1947 and they had three children.

Lucille enjoyed a long career as a nurse working at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Holy Family Hospital and in private practice.

She retired in 1982 to take care of her husband.

Tony passed away in 1990.

Lucille and Tony loved to travel to Mexico and Hawaii.

They were devoted to their Catholic faith and were founding members of St. Charles Parish.

She is survived by her brother Leslie Brokaw, daughter Pamela Meyer and her son Barry (Debbie) Meyer, grandchildren Tami Brown, Tim (Tori) Brown, Traci ( Paul ) McCallick, Rachel (Cory) Cole, Christopher Meyer, and Allan Shank IV, great-grandchildren Austin, Brandon, Courtney, and Dylan Brown, Alder and Pearl McCallick, Jade Shank and Allan Shank V, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Anton “Tony” Meyer, son Douglas Meyer, sisters Dorothy Brokaw, Marion Hutman, Betty Olson and Joanne Merkel, and her brother James Brokaw.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19 at Hennessey Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division from 2 - 6 pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm, also at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 20 at 10am at St. Charles Parish, 4515 N. Alberta.
