A new pal to pet: Christopher Bettman attended the Spokane Humane Society’s Love-A-Thon on Tuesday in northeast Spokane to share some time and love with the shelter animals. What he found was a 10-month-old kitten to bring home. The shelter has started a new tradition of generosity while participating in #GivingTuesday – a post-Thanksgiving event that shifts the holiday focus from getting to giving through community philanthropy. Bettman said he hasn’t had a pet for five years. “I like the feeling a pet gives you,” he said. He plans to name his new pal Jennifer after a famous actress he likes. (Dan Pelle)
