Obituary: Duclos, Marjorie E.

DUCLOS, Marjorie E. (Burner) (Age 88) In Loving Memory of Marge was born in Priest River, ID on June 27, 1926 to Ward and Johanna Burner.

After graduation from Priest River H.S.

she moved to Spokane to work at FAFB, where she met and lived with her future sister-in-law.

She married Norbert “Jim” Duclos on January 10, 1953.

Together they raised seven children; Marge always wanted a big family and she got it!

Later they were blessed with eight grand- children who brought them such joy.

In 1966, she started working as a Unit Secretary at Holy Family Hospital and continued there until retiring in 1992.

She was named employee of the year in 1988.

Marge and Jim planned on traveling after retirement but unfortunately he had a stroke 18 months later and she took on the role of caregiver.

She never complained about it saying, “he would do the same for me.”

She lost him in September of 1996.

Marge was a special lady with a quick sense of humor.

God blessed her with a kind and gentle spirit who rarely had a negative thing to say about anything or anybody.

She enjoyed watching sports, especially when her kids or grandkids played, and didn’t miss a GU or Mariners game.

She loved baking and spending time in her garden, the rose garden being her favorite.

She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Patrick’s Parish.

Marge spent the last six years at Sunshine Gardens in the Spokane Valley where she had the best of care, many visitors, and soon became a favorite of staff for her kindness, selflessness and that wonderful sense of humor.

Without even knowing, she continued teaching, showing us what grace, patience and dignity are.

Marge is survived by sons: Mark (Kari) of Spokane Valley, Michael, Chris and Jim of Spokane; daughters: Connie (Lee) Hirschel , Mary (Darin) Solberg of Spokane Valley, and Carol (Paul) Billick of Lamesa, TX; grandchildren: Megan, Stephanie, Cameron, Kelsey, Zachary, Victoria, Carly and Julia and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norbert “Jim”, Sept 1996; her parents; sister, Cora Lundstrom; brother, Everett Burner and Infant son, Gerry.

Vigil service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 5:00 pm in the Rose Chapel at Hennessey Funeral Home 2203 N. Division.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 4, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church 5021 N Nelson St.
