Obituary: Munns, Gary Erwin

Age 71

MUNNS, Gary Erwin April 27, 1943 - November 22, 2014 Gary was born in Boston, MA to Ralph and Neva Munns.

The young family moved to Omak, WA where Gary would spend his formative years.

He rode horses competitively in-cluding the legendary Suicide Hill Race at the Omak Stampede and logged for Atchison Brothers.

As a young man, Gary moved to Spokane with his first wife Kathy McCliment and worked for the Long Lake Lumber Company to provide for their growing family.

Sadly, he and his four children lost Kathy to leukemia in 1981.

In 1982 Gary married Karen Zastrow and a new chapter began.

With grace and grit Gary and Karen raised six children.

They lovingly remained by each other’s side through all of life’s challenges.

Gary worked as a craftsman and machine operator for many years and had recently retired from Sunshine Disposal & Recycling.

Gary was a kind and patient man with many interests and talents.

He generously shared both with all that were blessed to call him family or friend.

We will miss his wry smile and warm laughter.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy, son Kelly, and daughter Dana Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen; daughters Michelle Olstad, Misty Munns and Genevieve McDonald (Warren); his son Dustin Bender (Gayle); six grandsons and three granddaughters.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
