Obituary: Smith, Jerry Wayne

SMITH, Jerry Wayne (Age 67) Jerry was born in Lewistown, Montana on June 21, 1947.

In 1963, at the age of 16, Jerry became an Eagle Scout.

He was inducted into The Order of The Arrow, which is a scouting fraternity, in 1964.

Jerry graduated from Clarkston High School in 1965.

It was in 1966 that Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served three tours in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga.

He also served two years at the Pentagon in the War Gaming Department (Strategic International Operations Plan) with a top-secret clearance.

Jerry worked as a supervisor at the Navy Federal Credit Union.

He graduated Cum Laude from Eastern Washington University in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration.

In 1982, Jerry was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis a chronic kidney disease, however, he continued working.

He worked as Accounting Manager for URM stores until 1986, when he opened his own accounting practice, retiring in 2013.

Jerry is the father of three great children of whom he is survived; Matt, Megan, and Derek Smith.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA on December 6, 2014 beginning at 1:00PM.

Urn placement will take place at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
