Obituary: Burd, Dona Rose

Age 84

BURD, Dona Rose November 12, 1930- November 24, 2014 Dona Rose Burd passed away quietly, with dignity and grace on November 24, 2014 in Gig Harbor, Washington.

She was born in Colfax, WA to Howard Evans and Ethel Loree Evans and moved to Ephrata, WA in 1943, where she met her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” Burd.

As Bob built his career in the Land Title business, they moved to Longview, WA in 1969, Vancouver, WA in 1970, Spokane, WA in 1972, back to Vancouver, WA in 1983, and in 2004 moving closer to their daughters in Gig Harbor, WA.

She held many jobs in her life, but none so important as being a dedicated wife, and mother of two daughters.

She had many friends whom she met through Orthopedic Guild, bowling, traveling, playing bridge and being a good neighbor.

She enjoyed flower gardening, baking and sharing recipes and took pride in making her home beautiful.

Dona will stay in the hearts of her loved ones.

Through her long battle with illness, she showed great strength and courage and has taught us the importance of living in the present.

She is now in a place where there is no suffering, just happiness and joy.

Dona is survived by her husband Bob Burd; daughters, Rodona (Rodie) Burd and Deloree Burd; sisters, June Brouillet and Shirley Grandinetti; and 12 neices and 11 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Blandy.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11am, Saturday, May 30, 2015, at The United Methodist Church of Ephrata, 117 C. Street NW, Ephrata, WA 98823 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
