Obituary: Dompier, J. Neil

DOMPIER, J. Neil J. Neil Dompier was born September 2, 1930 in Spokane Washington and passed away November 26, 2014.

Neil was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in 1948.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War (1950-1954).

Neil was a long time employee and then owner of John Dompier Oil Co, Inc.

He operated convenience stores in the Inland Northwest and was a supplier of gasoline to independent operators.

He also was active in the oil and gas industry.

Neil served as president of the Washington Oil Marketers Association and was also a member of the National Oil Jobber Council.

He was appointed during the Carter Administration to the Gasoline Marketing Advisory Committee of the Department of Energy on July 31, 1978.

Neil was active in community affairs having been a member of the Lilac Festival and serving as its president in 1971.

He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Spokane Chamber of Commerce, and Manito Golf and Country Club.

Neil was married to Shirley, who passed in 2000.

Neil and Shirley were avid golfers and traveled together having visited Singapore, Scotland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Mexico and Panama among other places.

Neil and Shirley enjoyed their family and having gatherings at their house.

Neil is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law as follows, Bob Dompier, Jim Dompier, Tim and Dawn Dompier and Doug and Leila Dompier.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Darralyn Hite, and his grandchildren and spouses, Phillip and Megan Dompier, Nicole Dompier, Paul Dompier, Katie and Michael Fredieu, Christine Dompier, Christina and Ross Rinas, Stephanie and Luke Victor, Shanna and Pat Hulett, Andrea and Billy Hunt, Christopher Dompier, PK and Taja Ramsey, Max Dompier and Sophia Dompier and Christina Napier and James Koontz.

He is survived by great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also.

He is survived by his sister Jeannie Cocks and husband John, and brother Steve and wife Eve Dompier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his son, John and his daughter-in law Lorrie.

Donations in his memory should be made to the Spokane Lilac Festival or the Spokane Humane Society.

There will be a party celebrating his life this spring.
