Obituary: Goodell, Arnold Dean “Arnie”

Age 78

GOODELL, Arnold Dean “Arnie” Arnold “Arnie” Dean Goodell headed off to play on the Lord’s bandstand, December 2, 2014.

He was born in Furport, WA., on July 16, 1936, to James Chauncey Goodell and Doris E. Sherwood Goodell.

Arnie’s many accomplishments included a hosted television show in Anchorage, Alaska.

Along with his five-piece band, he backed big names such as Crystal Gayle and Buddy Allen.

He owned and operated his own barbershop in Spokane, where he was able to share his “one liners” and jokes to his captive patrons.

In recent years, Arnie graced the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall of Spokane bringing joy to his many fans.

He is survived by his long-term girlfriend, Shirley Randolph; daughter, Jamie Meacham (Simon); and son, Michael Goodell (Charity); four grandchildren, Jessica, Rosie, Alyissa and Breanna; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Above all, Arnie will be remembered for his incredible musicianship, his sense of humor and his ability to make people smile no matter what the circumstance.

A roast and toast of his life will be held at 4 p.m., December 13, at the VFW Post 51, located at 300 W. Mission Ave., Spokane, WA.

The family requests that friends bring a potluck salad or dessert to the celebration of Arnie’s life.
