Obituary: Laconi, Barbara May

Age 72

LACONI, Barbara May May 9, 1942 - November 27, 2014 Barbara was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 9, 1942, one of five children born to William and Elizabeth Andre.

She left us on November 27, 2014 after a long journey with cancer.

Barb and her family lived in Pennsylvania until moving to Florida in 1957.

Barb graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1959 and married soon after graduation.

As a military spouse, she traveled the United States and the world, spending time in Spain, Turkey, Panama and Germany.

She worked harvesting potatoes in Maine and loading grocery carts on base during North Dakota winters.

After moving to Spokane in the 80’s she worked in housekeeping and as a nurse’s aide.

Barb loved her family very much and also loved and took great delight in animals.

During her illness, Barb faced every new challenge with grit and unbelievable courage.

Her inner strength kept her moving forward with hope and determination through it all.

The family is so thankful for the excellent care and oversight Barb received from doctors, nurses, staff and the hospice team.

Barb is survived by her son James (Anita) Mangrum of San Antonio, TX, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is also survived by sisters Janice Andre of Spokane and Betsy (Chuck) Jordan of Deer Park and brothers Tom (Carol) Andre of Meadville PA and Steve Andre of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

There are also numerous nieces and nephews who will always cherish Aunt Barb.
