Obituary: Newsom, Max Eugene

Age 86

NEWSOM, Max Eugene November 8, 1928- November 6, 2014 Max Eugene Newsom born November 8th 1928, a long-time resident of the Chattaroy-Elk area, passed away peacefully on Thursday the 6th of November just days before his 86th birthday.

Max was drafted in 1949 and was a 78th Army Tanker for two years.

After 41 years, Max retired from a hard working career with Kruger Sheet Metal and Roofing as a Foreman in Spokane, Washington.

He enjoyed his old western movies, lovingly joked around with his grandchildren, adored playing with his great-grandchildren, and most of all fancied his sweets.

Very much cherished by friends and family, he will live on forever in our hearts.

Max was a beloved Husband, dedicated Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

He was married to Elaine Ruth Newsom for 58 blissful years before his passing.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his three children: Karen Van Dyke from Montana, Max Newsom Jr., and Mark Newsom both from Washington.

Max is survived by his one brother, Jerry Newsom; two sisters: Bea Morris and Margie Taylor; as well as six Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father John; mother Bernice; and two brothers: Billie and Rod.

In addition he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elaine R. Newsom who passed away earlier this year on May 15th.

Out of respect for Max’s wishes and his wife, Elaine, they requested that there be no services.
