Obituary: Rogers, William S.

ROGERS, William S. “Will” (Age 96) Long-time resident of Mead, WA passed away on December 5, 2014 in Spokane, WA.

Will Rogers was born on February 26, 1918 in Hope, Arkansas to Lige and Pearl (Cox) Rogers.

He met Louise Karber of Brewer, Arkansas and they were married on September 14, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Louise passed away on February 18, 2007.

Will served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he received a Purple Heart.

Later he owned and operated Will Rogers Farm Agency, in the Spokane area.

In 1980, Will founded Will Rogers Saddle Company.

He supported an amazing amount of horse clubs, especially for the youth.

He and his late wife, Louise also helped many children over the years as foster parents.

Will was Grampa to every kid he met.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to “Coyote Jack” Wood and “Kimmy” for their acts of kindness to Will and his family.

He was also preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters; two sons, Bill and Chuck and is survived by his two daughters, Janith (Ron) Lemery and Anita (Ron) Utley; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 10:30 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe, Spokane with the interment with Military Honors to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Spokane.
