Obituary: Stewart, Laura V.
Age 97
She was born August 2, 1917 in Waterford, CT and spent her youth in Brooklyn and Long Island, NY.
She attended Fort Wayne Bible Institute in Fort Wayne, IN where she met her future husband Walter.
Married on Long Island in 1941 Laura remained a loving and devoted wife for 71 years of marriage.
Following WWII Laura moved to the Pacific Northwest where she shared in ministry with her husband in a number of churches in Oregon and Washington.
Her musical talents found her singing and playing the piano on Sunday mornings as well as teaching Sunday School and conducting children’s church.
Upon retirement from Cedar Mill Bible Church in Portland in 1982 she ministered to the elderly and their families as a Chaplain in Nursing Home Ministries.
Her love for the Lord and her concern for others was witnessed by all who knew her.
She will be remembered also for her wonderful sense of humor and outgoing personality.
She left behind two daughters, Roberta “RJ” Stewart of Jacksonville, IL and Laurie S. Stewart of Spokane Valley.
Her family and friends will Celebrate her Life in a Memorial Service at 2:00PM, Saturday January 10, 2015 in the Chapel at Evergreen Fountains 1201 N. Evergreen, Spokane Valley.
There will be a private interment at the Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
