Obituary: Granger, Howard Daniel

GRANGER, Howard Daniel Howard Daniel Granger, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away on December 20, 2014 at the place he enjoyed the most - his home on the Spokane River in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Born and raised in Mercer Island, Washington, Howard filled his 69 years of life with vitality, hard work and humor.

Howard worked a long and fulfilling career with the Port of Seattle, ultimately serving as a representative for the Port in Eastern Washington where he developed a love for the Inland Northwest.

After retirement, Howard pursued a wide variety of interests including travel, motorcycling, and golf.

Howard was a devoted and energetic husband, a father and grandfather, and a generous, loyal friend and neighbor.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruth Granger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy, his son Sean Bannon and Sean’s children Madison and Nathan, his daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Benedetti and their children Sophia and Samuel (“Lumpy”), Howard’s sister Carolyn Haven, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Our family’s loss is Heaven’s gain and we take comfort in knowing that Heaven is a livelier place for his presence.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 27, 2014.

Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
