Obituary: Miller, Violet Anlee

Age 93

MILLER, Violet Anlee Entered into rest on January 28, 2014.

Vi was born January 31, 1921 in Twin Lakes, ID to Carl “Charlie” Miller and Anlee Black.

They moved around a lot and she attended many grade schools in north Spokane.

Following her graduation from Rogers High School she took a job at the Inland Soft Water Laundry where she met her future husband Owen M. Miller, the owner of the laundry.

They were married on August 12, 1942.

Together they raised five children, including a daughter from Owen’s previous marriage, while operating the business.

In 1973 the laundry closed and Vi went to work for fabric stores from which she retired in 1983.

These jobs allowed her to pursue her fondness for sewing.

Following the death of her husband in 1981, Vi enjoyed gardening, sewing, and genealogy.

She was a 60 plus year member of both Westminster Congregational Church and Adelphi Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

Vi is survived by her daughters, Rita Miller and Dixie Miller both of Spokane, WA; sisters, Luceal (John) Lenker of Grants Pass, OR and Ruth (Don) Hammon of Ontario, OR; grandchildren, Ann Lee Miller, Kenny Miller, Michelle Miller, and Kelly (Mike) Lammon; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her sons, Clyde A. and Owen M. Jr; brothers, Ernest, Oscar, and Ray Miller; sisters, Iva Coghill and Leonor Knapp; and stepdaughter, Dawn Slaughter.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Westminster Congregational Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westminster Congregational Church, Shriners Hospital for Children of Spokane, Hospice of Spokane or a charity of your choice.
