Obituary: Mork, Barry Vincent
Age 80
He grew up in Millwood, attending West Valley schools, and Washington State University, where he met his future wife, Arlene.
All of their children also graduated from West Valley High.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Beverly Trippel; and nephew, Barry Lee Trippel.
He is survived by Arlene, his wife of 57 years; children, Dan (Kathy) Mork, Karen Mork and Eric Mork, of Spokane, Jeff (Cindy) Mork, of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Seth (Andi) Mork, Sara, Valerie, Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, Kai, Jacob, and Easton; nieces, Susan Pierce, of Lacey, WA, and Nancy Trippel-Grow, of Maui, HI; and many good friends.
His family had time to say goodbye and to tell him what a wonderful father and grandfather he was to them.
We will all miss him very much.
Barry loved working with kids.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since its beginning.
Barry loved to sing.
He sang in the Senior Choir for many years and directed the Junior Choir.
He took groups of Jr. Choir kids and their friends, roller-skating, skiing and swimming.
He also loved to talk.
It has been said that customers at Albertsons have been known to change lanes when they saw Barry ahead of them.
When his sons were in elementary school, he was a Cub Scout leader of Pack 430, and coached Boys’ Summer League Baseball.
After he and Arlene married, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard as Engineman at Robinson Point Light on Vashon Island.
He retired from the Inland Empire Paper Company after 48 years as electrician and millwright.
He died at home, in the house he built for his family, overlooking the beautiful river he loved.
A family service will be held later.
