Obituary: Siegel, Edith Reba

SIEGEL, Edith Reba GOOD BYE, MOM Here is a story we want to relate About our Mother who was so great.

She was born on the first day of Spring When things start to grow and birds start to sing.

Her parents William and Edith Millhorn Were so proud when she was born.

1919 was the year this took place, When Mom got her start in the human race.

One day Mom met this boy named Gerald Siegel in school When they were both learning about the Golden Rule.

Gerald knew that was the girl he was going to wed. “I’ll spend the rest of my life with her” to himself he said.

They went to school together And had lots of fun in all kinds of weather.

Then one day they decided to marry Even though the world’s future looked kind of scary.

And they were married in 1941, on the 8th of November, And that’s a date that we’ll always remember.

Their first daughter was born in ‘45, Their last daughter was born in ‘65.

During that time they had two more daughters and a son.

And of the five kids they boy was the middle one.

In 2006 Dad passed away and we were all so blue, And Mom was left wondering what she was going to do.

Before Mom was serious about Dad, a long time ago, She dated this other man a couple of times or so.

After Dad was gone this widowed man stopped by to see If Mom would be interested in getting together occasionally.

This man’s name is Elmer and they talked on the phone And now they’re together and no longer alone.

Mom’s health started to fail, She was tired and getting frail.

Life was a struggle for her as we all could see And then God said “I’ll take her now, she’ll be with me.”

On February 3, 2014 God took her away.

We are sad, but we know for Mom it’s better this way.

Mom was a very, very good cook, She probably should have written a book.

Her hamburgers, fried chicken or stew, Oh, Mom, we are really going to miss you.

She loved strawberry shortcake, and don’t forget ham, And she made the best ever strawberry jam.

Then there is her famous camping cake That tasted as good at home as sitting by a lake.

She wasn’t perfect, but she would always try, And she had a story about a lemon meringue pie.

She loved to can and sew, And as for camping she was always ready to go.

She also loved playing the slots, She’d always have fun, but never won a lot.

Mom was born and raised on a farm And loved animals with all their charm.

She liked to reminisce and always had a story to tell.

One of the best ended “Hurry up or I’ll cut your head off” the boy would yell.

She also wrote poems when she was bored and just sitting, So a poem for her obituary just seemed fitting.

Her grandson Anthony left us in 2007.

Last year her granddaughter Rhonda went to Heaven.

Now Mom is with Anthony, Rhonda and Dad And a happy reunion is now being had.

She is survived by her five children.

Marva, Lori, Gail, Becky and Lynne.

The six grandchildren that survive her are Jerry, Tina, Dan, Steve, Cierra and Nicki-Marie.

Her eight great-grandchildren survive her as well, And they are Anna, Brittany, Cedric, Nathan and Danielle, With Dominic, Tiana and Jazmin being the last three.

They had no choice, they were all born into this crazy family, But Elmer, Nick, Wayne, Larry, Michelle, Ingrid, Dawn and Zeke Probably wished they could have looked into the future to take a peek To see what kind of extended family they were going to get.

And Mom made them all feel welcome, and on that you can bet.

Mom, as your kids gather to say good-bye we want you to know You’ll be in our hearts forever because we love you so.

There will be no services at her request.

Good bye Mom, you were the very best!
