Obituary: Holler, Barbara Elizabeth

Age 68

HOLLER, Barbara Elizabeth (Age 68) Barbara Elizabeth Holler of Medical Lake, WA, passed away peacefully in her home on February 19, 2014.

Barbara was born in Sloatsburg, NY on August 28, 1945 to Herbert and Elizabeth Sanford.

After graduating valedictorian of her high school, she continued her education at Cornell University.

Barbara met the love of her life, Homer Holler, while he was stationed at West Point in New York.

On January 14, 1967, they were married in Spokane, WA, where they made their home for the next 47 years.

Barbara enjoyed travelling, especially touring on her motorcycle and was a member of the Roving Gamblers Motorcycle Club for many years.

She loved camping and fishing, reading, shopping, or watching hummingbirds and quail from her country home.

Barb also was a music enthusiast, fierce opponent in Trivial Pursuit, and friends and family could not deny her excellent cooking skills.

She volunteered her time as a Camp Fire Kids leader, and was always there to bake cupcakes or lend a hand for school activities.

She absolutely loved being a mom and grandma, and her kids and grandkids absolutely loved being hers.

A diehard Seahawks fan since their beginning in 1976, she was finally able to cheer them on to Super Bowl victory before taking her place in heaven.

Her home was always open to everyone and her ear was always there for anyone that needed someone to listen.

Her smile was contagious and jokes and laughter were a part of daily life, which continue to shine through her kids and grandkids.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Sanford.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Holler, of Medical Lake, WA; sons, Denny (Noel) Holler of North Bend, WA, James (Briana) Holler of Bothell, WA; daughter, Rebecca (Stephen) Bergman of Spokane, WA; sister, Carol Cronk of Cornwall, NY; and brother, Edwin Sanford of Tuxedo, NY.

She also is survived by five grandchildren: Natalie, Christian, Bethany, Bret, and Sydney.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, February 24 at 2:00 PM.
