Participants dash out of the chilly waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday after taking a dip in the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Sanders Beach. The water temperature was expected to be about 38 degrees. The first unofficial plunge took place Nov. 21, 1978.
