Obituary: Leitch, Richard Lloyd
Richard Leitch was born to Lloyd Richardson Leitch and Marie Maher Leitch (Welte) in Hillsboro, OR on August 23, 1934.
Rich received his high school education at Gonzaga Prep and graduated from Gonzaga University in 1957.
He earned a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Washington in 1963.
He retired from Fort Lewis in 1987.
Rich is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joanne, and by their five children,Bridget Steinhart (Bill), St. Louis, MO; Lt. Col. Timothy Leitch (Robin), Woodbridge, VA; Maj. Kevin Leitch (Julia), Santa Barbara, CA; Michael Leitch (Noriko), Spokane, WA; and Megan Kovanen (Dan), Wenatchee, WA.
and nine grandchildren.
He also leaves two sisters; Michelle Harlow, Spokane, WA and Marcie Kleisath (Greg) Marysville, WA; a brother, Martin Welte, Seattle, WA; and a large and loved extended family of aunts, his brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Olympia on Tuesday, January 7th at 9:30am.
His remains will rest at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
