One of the favorite pastimes among American motorists is to complain about other drivers’ foibles.
Perhaps not surprisingly, 36 percent of motorists find their spouses to be “the most annoying” behind the wheel according to a recent survey of 2,000 licensed drivers conducted by the website Insure.com in Foster City, Calif. Women were slightly more likely to choose “my husband” as being the most bothersome driver (at 20 percent) than men were to say the same about their wives (16 percent).
More specifically, the five most annoying driver habits were determined to be: following others too closely (14 percent); driving too fast (13 percent); driving too slowly (10 percent); cutting off other drivers (8 percent); and talking on a cell phone while driving (7 percent).
“It’s easy to judge from the passenger seat,” says Insure.com editorial director Amy Danise. “Pretty much everyone drives, and pretty much everyone thinks they’re really good at it.”
