Troopers suspect drunken driving in crash that injured 5

A Spokane man is now facing charges of driving under the influence and vehicular assault after he allegedly caused an accident on Highway 2 in Pend Oreille County early Saturday morning just after midnight, according to the Washington State Patrol. Kristoff B. Bultema, 24, was driving east on Fertile Valley Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at Highway 2, the WSP said. Instead Bultema stopped his 2010 Toyota Prius in the southbound lane of travel on the highway, where he was hit by a southbound 2010 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Damion C. Nunnery, 22, also of Spokane. One of the two passengers in Bultema’s car was injured, as was Bultema. Nunnery and one of his passengers were injured but not transported to a hospital. Another of the Nunnery’s passengers was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center while another was uninjured. Both vehicles were totaled. The highway was closed for more than two hours.
