Obituary: Hatch-Childers, Linda Louise
Age 72
Linda was born on November 6th, 1941, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, the daughter of Linwood Light Hatch and Flora Briggs-Gross.
Linda grew up in Jefferson, Maine with her four siblings, and graduated from Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, Maine in 1959.
Linda lived briefly in North Carolina, South Gouldsboro, Maine, and Ohio before finally moving to Spokane, Washington in 1967, where she set down roots to raise her family.
Linda spent 15 years working as a CNA, as well as a Health Unit Coordinator.
She also worked for a time as a caregiver for Independent Services, and as an Accessioner for PAML.
Linda was a devoted mother of six, who enjoyed cultivating a garden to nurture her family, and cooking for anyone who was hungry and found their way to her door.
Her creativity in the kitchen was matched only by her artistic nature, as she was very fond of sewing, crocheting, and knitting.
She was an avid reader, who loved the solitude and comfort she found in books.
She spent her days doting on her large family, and finding serenity in her Faith.
Her love and devotion to Jesus Christ sustained her, and brought her strength which she shared with her family.
This resilience carried her through her disease, and gave her a wisdom and light in dark times.
Throughout her disease, Linda’s unyielding strength and sense of humor were an inspiration to her family and friends, and her presence was always uplifting and a comfort, even in her final days.
Linda will always by remembered by her family for her straightforward candor, quick wit, and loving embrace.
She was preceded by her parents, her brothers, Rodney and William Hatch; and her husband, Carl E. Childers.
She is survived by her brother, Robert (Somjoi) Hatch; sister, Marie Noble; and her children: Susan (Hector) Cerrillo, Karen Pepin, Alice (Matt) Loy, Paul (Cathy) Childers, Amy (Richard) Childers, and Chris (Molly) Childers; 18 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and one Great-Great-Grandchild; as well as many Nieces and Nephews.
The Family would like to thank Dan and Rebecca Johnson, Hospice of Spokane, and the Staff on the 9th floor of Sacred Heart for their sensitivity, support and loving care.
The graveside service will be at 11:00 am at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, followed by a Memorial Service to be held at: 1:00 pm at Salvation Army, 222 E. Indiana Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family would graciously request donations be made to Hospice of Spokane, 367 East 7th Ave, Spokane Washington, 99202
