In brief: Man’s body found on Lake Coeur d’Alene shore

The body of an unidentified man was found on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene near the boat dock at North Idaho College just before 6 a.m. Saturday.

The man was found by an NIC employee who was there to clean the restrooms on the beach, according to Lt. Stu Miller of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. Rosenberry Drive was closed for several hours while the body was recovered.

How long the man had been in the water and the cause of death are unknown, Miller said.

Woman dies after fall from spooked horse

GARDEN VALLEY, Idaho – A 59-year-old Garden Valley woman has died after falling off her spooked horse and hitting her head.

Authorities said Charlotte Davis died of a head injury Thursday after the accident at about 10 a.m.

Boise County Deputy Coroner Mike Johnson said Davis was riding with another person when her horse spooked and ran down the road and out of view. Johnson told the Idaho Statesman that the other rider reported the horse came back without Davis, who was found on the side of the road.
