Obituary: Lynch, Shirley May
Age 82
She was born January 14, 1932, to Kenneth and Arvilla (Bennett) Hawks, in Ellensburg.
Shirley attended school in Ellensburg, graduating from high school in 1949.
On August 3, 1949, Shirley married Gordon Lynch in Kittitas.
They moved to the Quincy area in the fall of 1952, where they farmed until March 1973, when they moved into town.
Shirley began classes in 1969 at Big Bend Community College, continued at Wenatchee Valley College and graduated in 1976 from Central Washington University with a BA in Education and teaching certificate.
Shirley enjoyed gardening, especially her roses and tomatoes.
She was a dedicated and involved mother who spent untold hours helping with homework, extra-curricular activities such as 4-H, and attending her children’s activities whenever possible.
She truly enjoyed children and volunteered with Mothers of Preschoolers.
She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by children, Dean (Michael Flannery) Lynch of Spokane, Dan (Jerry) Lynch of Othello, Cheryl (Monte) Richardson of Tacoma; grandchildren, Diane (Aaron) Ness, Kristy (Will) Mildon, Carrie (Nick) Walker and Jusdin Lynch; six great-grandchildren; brother, Lenny Hawks; and aunt, Violet McCullough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, November 25, 1999; and brother, Kenneth Hawks Jr. A Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM on August 2, 2014 at Scharbach’s Columbia Funeral Chapel, Quincy; a reception will follow the service at the Quincy Moose Lodge.
