Obituary: Clift, William E. “Bill”
Age 73
Bill was born on Christmas day, 1940 in Port Angeles, WA to Don and Merle Clift.
The family moved to the Spokane Valley and Bill attended Otis Orchards Elementary and West Valley High School where he was a three-sport standout and graduated in 1959.
He graduated from EWU with both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees which were the foundation for his teaching and coaching careers.
Bill taught and coached football, basketball and softball at Newport High School, Freeman High School, University High School, and East Valley High School where he completed his over 30-year teaching and coaching careers.
Prior to and after his retirement Bill played softball on several senior teams.
In 1962 Bill married his high school sweetheart, Sylvia Klomp, and they had over 51 wonderful years together.
They enjoyed boating on Lake Coeur d’Alene, golfing, softball tournaments, traveling, and spending time with family and with their many wonderful friends.
Bill is survived by his son Darren; his brother John Clift (Debbie); and sister Mary Llewellyn (Steve).
His beloved wife Sylvia and his daughter Neta preceded him in death.
A memorial service to honor Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 19, 2014 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
