Obituary: Fjellman-Andrews, Catherine Joyce

FJELLMAN-ANDREWS, Catherine Joyce Catherine Joyce Fjellman-Andrews, daughter of Myrtle and John McKenzie, was born March 17, 1931, near Roth, North Dakota in her grandparents’ farmhouse in the same room where her mother had been born.

From North Dakota the family moved to California, Nevada, and eventually settled in Spokane.

Cathie graduated from North Central High School and married John Trautman in 1948.

They moved to Nine Mile Falls in 1949 where they welcomed sons Gary and John Robert to the family.

Joyce started her career at the phone company as a messenger and retired in 1984 as a business office manager.

Then she launched into her second career in Mary Kay Cosmetics.

Cathie was a prolific beauty consultant and recruiter and earned many top awards in the company.

After her divorce in 1997, Cathie married Roger Fjellman in 1999.

They enjoyed ten years of dining, dancing, traveling, and being with family and friends until his death in 2009.

In 2012 Cathie married Don Andrews and together they traveled and enjoyed being with family and friends and doting over their three dogs and two cats at their home in Nine Mile Falls.

Catherine Joyce is survived by her husband Don; her two sons, Gary and John Robert, Gary’s wife, Jo Ann; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2 PM at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 1929 W. Chelan Ave., Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center or Spokane Humane Society.
