Obituary: Mclaughlin, James Dean

McLAUGHLIN, James Dean (Age 38) Was born in Spokane, Washington, on June 1, 1975 to Jack and Mary McLaughlin.

Jim moved with his family to Yakima in 1979 where he attended St. Paul School and Marquette Middle School before moving back to Spokane.

Jim graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School and received a Social Justice scholarship to Loyola University New Orleans.

After two years he transferred to the University of Washington where he received his B.

A. degree in Business.

After graduation Jim served two years in El Salvador in the Peace Corps where he met his future wife Julie Faulk from North Carolina.

After the Peace Corps, Jim graduated with an MBA from Manchester University in England.

He spent a short time in Washington D.C. before living the last nine years of his life in the Cayman Islands in the financial industry managing a fund for a British insurance company.

Jim was a loving father and was extremely proud of his two children, Isla (7) and Cormac (5).

He is survived by his wife, Julie (Faulk) McLaughlin; his children; his father and mother Jack and Mary; his five siblings, Thomas (Lupine), Spokane, Matthew (Mary), Seattle, Sarah Rodenbough (Cody), Spokane, Anthony, Spokane and John (Fatima), Spokane; as well as his loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and other friends both near and far.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, at 10:00 am in the Chapel at Gonzaga Prep, 1224 East Euclid, Spokane, WA, with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers the family has established a fund for Jim’s children at Washington Trust Bank.
