Obituary: Mcneilly, Ida F.
Age 95
She was the fifth child born to Frederick H. Bates (1879-1961) and Ida Fair Bates (1880-1918).
She was raised by the Gratz family in Acme until she was 10 years old, and then rejoined her father and siblings on the farm.
After high school she attended nursing school in Victoria, BC.
Ida worked as a nurse in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada and California.
She trained to become an x-ray technician before moving to Spokane, WA.
She met Howard McNeilly in Spokane; they were married in Mindon, Nevada in 1955.
They lived in Spokane Valley and enjoyed their cabin on Priest Lake.
Ida was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her parents and siblings.
Surviving relatives include Jim and Alice Bates, Del and Sharon Bates all of Alberta; also Greg and Karla McNeilly, Claudia and Ralph McGowen of Spokane; and Donna Stave of Florida.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd.
Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
