Obituary: Morgan, Dorothy Louise
Age 85
Dorothy was born in Deer Park on May 11, 1929, to Raymond William and Melda Grace (Morgan) Bugenhagen.
Dorothy had recently celebrated her 85th birthday on Mother’s Day.
Dorothy attended school in Deer Park, WA and then moved to Spokane where she worked in the Naval Supply and then for Newberry’s.
While in Spokane, Dorothy met Dale Morgan and they began what would become a 42 year marriage on August 15, 1953.
Dorothy worked in the home raising their son Kevin and caring for the needs of the family.
They relocated to Colville in 1967 where Dale began working for Cole Motors and then eventually for Dominion Motors.
In the early 1970’s Dale began a new business venture when he opened Colville Saw & Yamaha.
Dorothy helped out in the store by doing the bookkeeping.
In 1983 she went to work at Jackpot Food Mart by being a Deli Cook, and then in 1991, at the age of 62, she began what would become a 22 year career at Ronnie D’s Drive In where she cooked and maintained the kitchen.
Dorothy worked diligently to maintain a spotless and well stocked restaurant kitchen until she retired in the fall of 2013 at the age of 84.
Dorothy enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and playing scrabble and rummy with her sisters and brother-in-law.
Family was important to Dorothy and they would camp and boat when her son was young.
She attended countless sporting events in support of her grandsons.
Dorothy also attended Grace Evangelical Free Church.
She was a loving mother, devoted and always willing to put in a full day’s work.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kelli Morgan, on September 6, 1963 and her husband, Dale, on March 5, 1996, and also by her infant nephew Jacob Rowland.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Morgan and his wife, Lanette, Colville; sisters, Eva Tiffany and her husband, Robert, Spokane; Vikki Rowland, Spokane; nephew, Mike Tiffany and his wife, Barbara, Coeur d’Alene, ID; grandsons, Josh Morgan and his wife, Carissa, Colville; Justin Morgan and his wife, Candice, Spokane; Adam Morgan, Wenatchee; four great-grandchildren, Makenna, Madison, and Ashlyn Morgan, Colville, and Ryker Morgan, Spokane.
The funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy L. Morgan, will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Colville, WA.
Graveside services and vault interment will follow at the Mountain View Park Cemetery, Colville, WA.
Pastor Tim Goble will officiate.
Memorials may be given in Dorothy’s name to Grace Evangelical Free Junior High Youth Camp, Colville.
