Age 71
Nellie was born April 9, 1943 at Worley, ID to Edward and Marceline (Zachary) Silas.
She attended the DeSmet Mission School at DeSmet.
Nellie lived most of her life on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation where she raised her family and worked for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
Nellie was married to Mitch Michael Jr. and the couple had five children.
Nellie was a homemaker for most of her life, but had worked various jobs for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
She worked as a secretary for the Tribal Council, as a truck driver for the Tribal Farm, and for the Cut and Sew Shop.
She had also worked as a teacher’s aide at the Plummer School.
Nellie has made her home near Worley for the past 40 years.
She was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children; Susan (Don) Sam of Worley, Samuel Michael Sr. of Boise, ID, Lisa Michael of Spokane, WA, Marcie Michael of Spokane, and Mary (Doug Jesse) Washington of Spokane; her godson, Tony Leo of Worley; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Jim of Worley, her brother, Tom Zimmerchied of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Joseph Mullen of Worley.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Daisy Mullen, Geraldine Mullen Groth, nephew Richard Mullen, niece Missy Mullen, nephew Jay Leo, and granddaughters Rozina Enick and Lela Plant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rose Creek Longhouse at Worley, ID.
Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Longhouse.
Father Robert Erickson, S. J. will officiate at the service and burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery at Worley, ID.
