Obituary: Williams, R. Neal

Age 89

WILLIAMS, R. Neal (Age 89) Passed away on May 27, 2014 at Touchmark on South Hill.

He was born on June 12, 1924 to Roy and Quintilla Williams in Missouri.

He and his family moved to Spokane in 1939.

He graduated from John Rogers High School.

Neal went into the Navy in 1943 and became a pilot.

He flew both PBYs and Privateers.

In 1944, as soon as he got his wings, he married the love of his life, Cherry.

They were married for 59 years before her death in 2004.

They had one daughter, Marsha.

They enjoyed many many years at Bayview, Idaho on Pend Oreille Lake where they had a float house and boat.

They spend hours fishing for the “big one.”

They were in constant competition with each other on who would catch the biggest fish.

Every spring he and his best friend would search for mushrooms and cut wood.

Those were good times enjoyed by both.

Neal also enjoyed his daily visits to the Valley VFW Post 1435 to play pull tabs and visit with all his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherry and his sister, Peggy Felton.

He is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Tom) Hoag of Post Falls, ID; grandson, Shaun (Carrie) Hoag of Spokane Valley, WA; and two great-grandsons.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 12, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

at the Valley VFW, 212 S. David Rd.

This would have been Neal’s 90th birthday.
