Obituary: Brady, Albert M. Jr.

Age 78

BRADY, Albert M. Jr. Born to Vera Pearl Baldwin Brady and Albert M. Brady, Sr. in Staples, Minnesota on June 6th, 1936.

Al passed away May 22nd, 2014 at home after many years of health complications and is now in God’s loving arms.

He moved to Spokane in 1950 and has lived here except for the years 1956 to 1972 when he resided in Seattle.

In June 1957 he married Janice Marie Welandt.

While in Seattle he worked as a machinist and then a journeyman welder in the shipyards.

Al was active in the Army National Guard and the Army Reserves (SP5) from April 3, 1955 to May 31st, 1963.

After his return to Spokane in 1972 he was employed at Western Fruit Express.

He then went on to own and operate his own businesses.

He had his own barbershop in Trentwood and later his own upholstery shop.

He had his own rental business from 1974 through 1998.

After retirement he continued to work part time with Enterprise Car Rentals.

Al loved to play croquet and made beautiful croquet mallets.

Al was a past member of the Teamsters, Machinists, Boilermakers and the Carmen Unions.

He was a member of the Inland Empire Rental Association, Clowns of America International, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Hillyard Senior Center.

His mission in life was to see people happy.

He did this by giving HUGS.

Sometimes he was misunderstood by people who did not know his heart.

Also, from 1981 to 1987 he was known as Dodo the Clown.

For several years he provided turkeys and chocolate covered cherries during the holidays for families who could use a little extra.

Almost everyone he knew had either a cross, backscratcher or pen holder that was hand crafted by him.

From the approximate age of 14 to 19 he worked to help support his mother and sisters.

He is survived by his wife Janice of 56 years; daughter Carrie May Bowman (H. Kyle); grandchildren Justin K. (Monica) and Colton T. Bowman, Janae L., Brittany J., and Joshua M. A. Cepeda and great-granddaughters: Crestin, Emma and Jasmine Bowman.

He is also survived by his sisters: Gwendolyn G. Lebahn (Steven) and Sandra L. Johnston.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline Marie Cepeda and his sisters: Dixie L. Bollman, Bonnie Jean Greenwaldt, Judith J. Ewert, Peggy Sue Brady and Karen Raye Brady and his parents.

At Al’s request, no services will be held.

However, there will be a remembrance for the family to celebrate his life and special memories officiated by Pastor Richie Shaw whom Al highly regarded.

Please hold on to only the beautiful memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
