Obituary: Gridley, Judith L.

GRIDLEY, Judith L. Judith Lorene Scoggin Gridley died in her Spokane home on June 3rd, 2014 at the age of 73.

She was born on May 30th, 1941 in Gooding, ID to her parents; Charles and Audrey Scoggin.

She grew up in Fairfield, ID and graduated from Camas County High School in 1959.

She went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Home Economics from the University of Idaho.

She became a single mother of three children, Samuel, Jessica and Christopher.

She was a successful business entrepreneur as a couturier.

She loved fashion and created her own clothing line: “The J Line”.

In 1986 she moved to Plano, TX where she ran her fashion design business for almost 10 years before her first grandchild, Isaac was born in 1995 in Spokane, WA.

She loved creating wedding gowns and went on to establish a business called “Dream Wedding” with her daughter Jessie.

She also loved to knit and she enjoyed making quilts for her friends and family.

When the internet was very new, she recognized the opportunity to use her entrepreneurial spirit to create an online business.

She and her tech savvy daughter, Jessie created “Fabrics.net”.

Judith ran that business for nearly 20 years, helping people with her lifelong expertise in textiles.

She loved to travel to Hawaii to visit her son, Sam who lived there with his beautiful wife, Kerry.

Family trips together anywhere, was her favorite thing.

She loved being surrounded by family and was so very proud of her three children, all of whom became successful business owners.

She loved her three grandchildren and enjoyed her grandson Isaacs’ amazing talent as a musician.

She was excited to have her granddaughter Jadyn share her passion for fashion and design.

Her youngest grandson Nathaniels’ (Nate) silly humor and “rascally” ways, always made her giggle.

She is survived by her son, Samuel and daughter-in-law, Kerry; daughter, Jessica and son-in-law Michael; son, Christopher and daughter-in-law, Michele; grandson, Isaac; granddaughter, Jadyn; grandson, Nathaniel; sister, Jaynejo Strub and her beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs; “Faith” and “Stormy”.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles, and her mother, Audrey.
