Morgan transferred to rehab facility
Actor-comedian Tracy Morgan has been moved from a New Jersey hospital to a rehabilitation facility as he recovers from a serious auto accident, his spokesman said Friday.
The former star of “30 Rock” is showing signs of improvement but has a long road to full recovery, spokesman Lewis Kay said in an email. Morgan suffered a broken leg and broken ribs in the June 7 crash.
Morgan’s limousine van was hit from behind by a Wal-Mart truck on the New Jersey Turnpike. Morgan’s friend James McNair, 62, of Peekskill, New York, was killed and Morgan and two other men were seriously injured.
On Thursday, a report by federal transportation safety investigators said truck driver Kevin Roper was driving 65 mph in the 60 seconds before he slammed into the limo van. The speed limit on that stretch of the turnpike is 55 mph and was lowered to 45 mph that night because of construction. The 35-year-old Roper, of Jonesboro, Georgia, has pleaded not guilty to one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
Gunman fires on rapper’s SUV
A gunman with a rifle fired on an SUV carrying rapper ScHoolboy Q after a concert at the popular Red Rocks outdoor amphitheater near Denver, but he wasn’t hurt, investigators said Friday. Three other people suffered non-life threatening injuries during the attack late Thursday in a parking lot at Red Rocks.
Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting and said they do not know if ScHoolboy Q was targeted. No arrests have been made.
ScHoolboy Q, whose birth name is Quincy Matthew Hanley, is from Los Angeles. His most recent album, “Oxymoron,” debuted at No. 1 earlier this year and reflects his life as a father and former gang member.
The rapper and at least four other people were in a white SUV that was fired on at the venue in the foothills west of Denver, authorities said.
They drove themselves to a Denver intersection about 15 miles away, apparently in search of a hospital, before being stopped by Denver police and taken for medical attention, Kelley said.
ScHoolboy Q and another uninjured person were briefly handcuffed while police assessed the situation, but no one in the vehicle was arrested. Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, said ScHoolboy Q was not a suspect in the shooting.
