Obituary: Nunes, William

NUNES,William MSgt USAF RET William was born in Antioch in 1927 to Rita and John Nunes.

William was an only child.

William attended Antioch High school.

After completing High School William entered the Air Force where he spent the next 30 years.

Some of his stations included; England, Thailand and numerous bases around the world.

William married his first wife and they had a son they named John.

William and his wife divorced 13 years later.

William met and married Darleen Smith in 1973.

The couple made a trip to Spokane Washington from California and loved the area.

William or “Bill” as everyone called him, loved to fish and hunt and the Spokane area made it a perfect home.

Bill’s real passion for hunting and fishing made Spokane the ideal home for the couple after Bill’s retirement from the Air Force.

Bill and Darleen spent much of their time hunting and fishing and camping, they both also enjoyed traveling in their motor home across the United States.

Bill and Darleen spent many winters in the south during the cold Washington winters.

Bill is survived by his son John Nunes, John’s wife Maria and two granddaughters Jade and Mariah.

Bill is also survived by his wife Darleen, his stepchildren; Sharon Lea from California, Sondra Lee Mansur from Deer Park, Washington, Steven Smith from Colville, Washington and Susan Flynn from Spokane, and he is also survived by nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Bill was very involved in the community and contributed to many charitable organizations.

A Memorial Service will be held at the San Soucie Club House on June 22, from 1 pm to 4 pm, anyone requesting to share in Bill’s celebration of life is encouraged to attend.

A second service (not scheduled at this time) will be held at the Veterans Cemetery.

Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
