Obituary: Reinbold, Ray
Age 79
With family at his side, he passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Bellingham, WA on Friday, June 13th.
During the past year he fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
After graduating from Cheney High School in 1953, he continued his education at Eastern Washington University and earned a B.A.
in accounting in 1960.
He relocated to Bellevue and eventually settled in Kirkland, WA with his wife, Kathy.
He spent the next thirty plus years employed in Financial Management positions in the healthcare and healthcare related fields.
After earning an additional business degree from City University in Seattle, he spent the last 10 years of his working career as an Enrolled Agent doing federal taxes and small business accounting.
In 1957 he was in a serious automobile accident and spent several months at a rehabilitation center in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Also at the center was his future wife to be, Kathy.
She had been involved in an automobile accident.
They discovered they shared many common interests; and once both left the center they married.
Although they left Vancouver with physical handicaps, they pursued careers as well as a passion for life which included many fishing trips in the Puget Sound waters, rivers in British Columbia; travels across the United States, and trips to Germany, Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Many short trips were taken to Canada to visit Kathy’s family; who were an important part of their active lifestyle.
Although the accident ended Ray’s Naval Reserve flight training, it did not deter his desire to become a pilot.
He continued flight training at a Bellevue airport, and earned his pilot’s license.
Several times he flew a small plane from the west side of the state to the east side to visit his parents in Davenport.
Building and flying model planes was another favorite hobby.
Often he met friends at a Bellevue airport to fly the model planes.
He had a love of sports and faithfully watched the Mariners.
He is prededed in death by his parents, Bill and Theresa, and an infant brother, Virgil.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; sister Pauline Soderquist; nephews and nieces; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
He embraced life wholeheartedly in spite of challenges.
