Obituary: Watts, Jeanne J.
Age 91
She was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended both the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois.
When WWII broke out, she worked in a small arms factory in Chicago before joining the Navy.
Jeanne was a Pharmacist’s Mate doing high altitude research, where she met and married the boss’ brother on June 2, 1945.
Both Jeanne and her husband B.K.
received engineering degrees from North Carolina State University.
Jeanne was the first “lady” engineer hired by Carolina Power and Light in 1950.
When B.K.
returned to active duty, they travelled extensively in the U.S. and Europe before retiring in Spokane.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband B.K; her son Bill; and her daughter Gale.
She is survived by her son, Judd Watts; her daughter, Judy Delusky; and her daughter-in-law, Dianna Joy; three grandchildren, Chris Delusky, Gretchen Delusky, and Anna Rozier; and four great-grandchildren.
At her request, no service will be held.
