Obituary: Alt, Melba Amelia

ALT, Melba Amelia Melba Alt, a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away on June 12th after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born 8-09-44 to Victor and Gilberta Alt in Spokane, WA.

Melba was always known for her independence and her pride of being a registered Spokane Indian.

Raising her two sons on her own has always been her proudest moment.

Everyone who knew her realized that “lil’ Vicky” was her one true love (Elvis Presley was a close second).

Whether it was twirling a flaming baton; Beauty School; Davenport farming secretary; Bank Teller; Hanford Patrol Officer; Bus Driver or DSHS Social Worker, Melba always gave 110% to her career endeavors.

She even graduated from semi-truck driving school in Arizona.

Melba is survived by her sons Dan Quillen of Richland, WA and Jason Strand with daughter-in-law Olga Strand of Richland, WA; granddaughter Victoria Strand; mother Gilberta Oligher Alt of Pasco/ Davenport, WA; brother Fred Alt; sisters Kay Alt, Iris Crisman, and Susan Hultman.

She was preceded in death by her father Victor Alt who her “lil’ Vicky” was named after.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at 4pm on Saturday, June 28th at the Lutheran Church in Davenport, WA.
