Obituary: Martin, Marie E.
Age 95
She was born on April, 18, 1919 in Tacoma, WA to the late Paul and Mae Gilliland.
She graduated from North Central High School where she met and later married her sweetheart, Walter E. Martin on June 8, 1941.
Marie’s passion was golf.
The Martins were active members of the Spokane Country Club for over 50 years.
Marie won the City of Spokane golf tournament in 1963.
She was a faithful Christian and attended the Open Bible Church.
She was loved and will be missed by her family and many friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Martin (1995) and her daughter, Carolyn Wilson (1998).
Marie is survived by her sister, Betty Hawkins of Spokane, WA; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Frances Martin of Spokane, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Bonni and Tom Costello of Spokane, WA; son-in-law, Robert T. Wilson of Spokane, WA.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brad (Melissa) Wilson of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Tracie Wilson (Scott) Wetzel of Spokane, WA, Cara Wilson of Seattle, WA, Monte Irby of Spokane, WA, Carmen Costello of Los Angeles, CA, Angie (Mike) Walker of Spokane, WA, Chad (Esse) Costello of Spokane, WA, Shantel (Casey) Waltari of Cody, WY, Mai-Ling Martin of Seattle, WA, Kimberly Martin of San Diego, CA; and numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Special thanks to Leann Springer and the caring staff of Royal Plaza Retirement Center, Horizon Hospice, and the nurses and staff of Riverview Care Center who provided excellent care and support for Marie.
No funeral or memorial services have been scheduled.
A private graveside service will be scheduled for a future date.
