Obituary: Mills, Anne L.
Age 71
She was born October 10, 1942 in Billings, Montana, the daughter of Alvin Leon and Martha Karen (Rorvig) Halverson.
She married Richard C. “Dick” Mills on June 24, 1978 in Spokane, WA.
Anne attended Lake Washington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was a former member and past secretary of the Young Republicans.
She was a 1960 graduate of Freeman High School and 1963 graduate of Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane, WA.
Anne retired as a Registered Nurse in 1979 but kept her license active until 2007.
She began her career at Children’s Hospital; working in the ER then going to Pediatric Oncology because she loved taking care of children.
She later worked in the bone marrow transplant unit when it was in its infancy and ended her career working with the Puget Sound Blood Center doing research.
Anne was a Master Gardener and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing (especially for her business - Small Stitches by Anne Mills), traveling and had an adventurous spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, son, Timothy H. “Tim” Mills, daughter, Michelle E. “Shelly” Mills, her mother, brothers, Albert L. Halverson and wife Cheryl and Neil Halverson and wife Linda as well as a sister, M. Jeanell Malone.
Anne was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Chris Halverson.
A celebration of Anne’s life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Lake Washington Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 343 15th Avenue, Kirkland, WA 98033 - phone (425) 822-4637.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts may be made to Lake Washington Christian Church or the Arthritis Foundation.
