Dayan Viciedo hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning off John Axford, lifting visiting Chicago over Cleveland and stopping a four-game losing streak. Corey Kluber struck out a career-high 13 in eight innings, including a team-record seven straight. He allowed one run, three hits and two walks, leaving with a 3-1 lead after 110 pitches.

Wil Myers hit an inside-the-park homer, his latest big hit against New York, and drove in four runs as Tampa Bay battered an ineffective CC Sabathia in a road victory. Erik Bedard earned his first win as a starter since last June, and Evan Longoria had an early RBI double to help the Rays finish 5-5 on a trying trip that included a doubleheader sweep Thursday in Boston and a 14-inning win Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

Phil Hughes won his third start in a row, Trevor Plouffe and Kurt Suzuki hit two-run doubles and Minnesota beat Baltimore in Minneapolis. Hughes gave up two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings, walking none and striking out three. After giving up a single to Nick Markakis to start the game, Hughes retired the next 14 batters.

Jeff Baker hit a game-winning double off the wall with two outs in the ninth inning, and Miami got the home win over Los Angeles. Right fielder Yasiel Puig retreated and made a leaping try for an acrobatic catch but slammed against the fence, and the ball deflected off it and hit him in the face. Puig collapsed to his stomach and was slow to rise, and he walked off the field with an arm around a trainer.

1925 — Manager Ty Cobb of the Detroit Tigers hit three homers, a double and two singles against the St. Louis Browns.

1978 — Pete Rose became the 14th player with 3,000 hits when he singled against Montreal’s Steve Rogers at Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium.

1980 — National League president Chub Feeney suspended Pittsburgh’s Bill Madlock for 15 days and fined him $5,000 for shoving his glove in the face of home plate umpire Gerry Crawford.

1999 — Colorado became the first team in 35 years and the third this century to score in every inning in a 13-6 win over the Chicago Cubs. The last time a team scored in all nine innings was also at Wrigley Field, when St. Louis beat the Cubs on Sept. 13, 1964.
